I’ve always been the sporty girl—100m sprints, weekend football matches, and school competitions. Being active was second nature to me, until one brutal loss at a county sprint final. That defeat crushed my drive. Running faded, football followed, and by 18, I had lost the spark that once kept me moving.
University only made things harder. Away from home and struggling to make friends, I withdrew even more. Then COVID hit, and isolation took over. With no structure, no accountability, and zero motivation, I stopped caring about my diet, barely moved, and gained weight in all the places I hated. I didn’t recognize myself—physically or mentally.
Then the gym changed everything. My boyfriend introduced me to lifting, and at first, it was just about moving again. But soon, I fell in love with the process.
